GUYS GUYS GUYS!!! guess who just skyped with torrey smith! THIS GIRL. he tweeted his skype name for a bit and i called him…we talked for a solid 5 minutes. he said i was the first person to call him and he thought other people were afraid to call him…lucky for me haha we got to talk for quite some time! go check twitter quickly! maybe you can talk to him too! how insane is that?!
Q:I'm from Baltimore and for me, the thing I find most depressing about your obsession with the Ravens, along with every other maniacal football fan out there, is that there are so many more important things to get upset over. What about the people dying every day in Baltimore because of the horrible things that happen here over drugs, etc.? What about all the nations in the world that have nothing at all compared to us? And all we can do is get pissed and angry about a fucking sport? Disgusting.

alright. this has been sitting in my ask box since the day after i posted the ravens rant. normally i brush off the hate i get(which is a surprisingly large amount)…but i feel like this really needs to be addressed.
there is no possible way i could disagree with this more than i currently do. baltimore is a great city. one of the many things that makes it such a great place is football. ravens fans are diehard. we give it our all. purple friday is a must….sunday is reserved for nothing but football….monday is full of boasting or crying. you are right…baltimore does have a lot of issues. there are a lot of drug issues and unnecessary murders. but honestly, what city doesnt? yeah. there are other countries that are majorly struggling. we are all aware of that. if we spent all of our time focusing on the issues on baltimore and the struggles of other countries..we’d be one depressed city. we need to have something to believe in and bring us all together. football does that. on sundays…it doesnt matter if youre a multimillionaire or living on welfare…we become one. we cheer together for the wins and we console each other after the losses. football is really the one time that all of baltimore comes together and is a family. the city would probably far worse off without the ravens on a charitable level as well. the players are VERY involved in the city and charities involving the city’s people. i know i probably think this because i live near the city..but i think the ravens are one of the most involved teams. they dont just write over a check..they go and spend time with their fans….they help them out…they bring up their spirits. children growing up in the rough areas of the city that are honestly on the path to becoming another “issue” in the city have people to look up to. maybe they play football. maybe they see ray lewis and think..if he could make it. i can too. maybe that will keep them away from going down the rough path of the people before them who are their only role models.
yes. there are A LOT of problems in the world and in our city but blaming fans of a sport is by far the worst way to go about changing things. rather than sitting behind a computer anonymously attacking a blog about maryland, you should be out trying to make a change in the city that you think is so horrible. but i highly suggest that the ravens fans not be your first priority. we love our team. we love our city…good and bad.

ravens rant…
first of all..i want to say that im extremely proud of my team this season. it was an AMAZING season that really set the ground work for the future. we are going to be a team to beat next season and theres absolutely no doubt about that. that being said…we have a lot to improve on but hey..we have a few months to get working. and if i know anything at all about the ravens…theyre damn well going to work their asses off in the off season to get where they need to be.
i also want to address the missed field goal by billy cundiff. i honestly feel extremely bad for him. yeah..he should have nailed that. but come one…how many times have important games been lost by a fumble, missed field goal, interception or dropped ball? MANY. people are being extremely hard on him..saying he only has one job to do and if he cant do it we should fire him. torrey smith. his job is to catch the ball. remember the ravens steelers game when he dropped a game winning ball? guess what he did…caught the ball a few downs later and won the game…hes been a name that we havent been able to get away from since. all this loss is going to do is make billy work even harder to become an even better kicker. the ravens wont be giving him up ANY time soon regardless of his 5 year contract. hes a great kicker and theres no doubt about that. we win and we lose as a team. there were things that every player did tonight that, had they been better, billy would not have been in the position he was. i wholeheartedly believe that if Lee Evans TD catch had been reviewed…it would have been ruled a touchdown. its not just billys fault. everyone has room to improve. and if they really buckle down and make those improvements…we wont need to rely on our kicker to take us into overtime. i think we played an amazing game and gave the pats a real run for their money. im proud of my team.
one last minor thing…i know a lot of you have facebooks and twitters..and i know that those who do have been seeing that “ugh typical obnoxious ravens fan” comments, tweets and statuses all season long…every season. literally NOTHING pisses me off more. what team doesnt have obnoxious fans? its FOOTBALL. its not dinner with the president. were supposed to be loud and obnoxious. baltimore is a city that absolutely LIVES for football season. we paint the town purple. i dont know about you guys but on fridays during football season, most people i see are wearing purple. we tailgate hard, we scream hard and we ball hard(had to). if your city/team doesnt have dedicated fans like the baltimore ravens do…im sorry for you. its a family that im beyond proud to be a part of. youre supposed to go all in for your team. youre not supposed to say “hmm im gonna cheer for the broncos next season because then maybe tim tebow will sleep with me” no. 1. he wont. 2. you know nothing about the team. youre basing your football team on who is prettiest? see ya around. go get a manicure. i love joe flacco. he may not be the prettiest QB out there…but hes OUR quarterback and he gives us his all. sidenote: a lot of the obnoxious ravens fans shit comes from steelers fans. excuse me? youre just as, if not more, obnoxious than we are. sorry that when your team falls short…you have to pick at how rowdy of fans we are…they also loved to pull the “oh ravens got lucky” crap this post season. i sorry but where is your team? oh right. they got tebowed. were not lucky. were a good football team who beat you both times we met you this season and will do the same again next season. thanks, come again.
really all this is…is me saying that regardless of the outcome tonight…i love my ravens. i always have and i always will.
